WELCOME!!!
The purpose of this website is to serve as a professional resource for librarians providing services to GLBTQ teens.
Recent estimates rank GLBTQ students as 3- 10% of the total population, an invariably substantial segment that librarians cannot afford to ignore (Gardes, 23).
Furthermore, teens identifying as GLBTQ may have the added difficulty of coming to terms with their unique identities, while simultaneously attempting to carve out a place for themselves at home, at school, and within the community at large.
In reality, these teens represent a significant and underserved portion of our user population, and also a group that is undoubtedly in desperate need of adult support and guidance.
It is my sincere intention that this website informs, educates, and provides practical advice to librarians serving GLBTQ teens (i.e. every librarian serving teens!!)
